The Ministry
The Second Evangelical Church of Athens has asked us to help them with their vision of serving the oppressed. The current financial crisis has given us, through God’s grace, more opportunities and increased responsibility to serve the poor/homeless/refugees in our city. Below you will see the vision as it has been developed for the last year since we started giving away meals three times a week to about 70-80 people each time. Since January we have provided 6.200 meals. Besides the meals, we also support a number of local families with supermarket products for their most immediate needs. Through this ministry this ministry a Bible study has been birthed (every Thursday) for men in our community and a bible study for Iranians.
We are looking to rent a facility to house this ministry that will enable us to offer more services and opportunities to reflect Christ to the needy.
Vision (what we see): Lives Transformed: to plant Gospel seeds in the lives of the poor and refugee in our community that take root and bear the fruit of a life transformed through Jesus Christ.
Mission (what we do): Reveal Jesus to the poor and refugee in our community by demonstrating and proclaiming the gospel as a community of Gods people.
We are also working with the Helping Hands ministry serving refugees. We have feedings there three times a week. Donna and I cook for over 300 people every week and I lead two Bible study’s there.
